Summary:

Exactly what it says on the tin.

I have a long history with LJ, though I've been active on Tumblr for the last couple of years. I don't actually remember when I started my Tumblr, but I can tell you that my LJ career started in January 2002 and my first LJ had the username mommybird.

I decided to start a new LJ with the same username as my Tumblr (I'm rembrandtswife there, without the underscore). I also am on Twitter, and I blog at WordPress, too. There is some overlap and interpenetration of all these identities, but I don't have a plan yet as to what will appear here on LJ.

I'll tell you some things I've missed about LJ, though:
--the ability to filter what you post to very specific groups of people
--the user icons, the way people use them for mood and season and topic, not just as virtual faces
--the comment threads, praise Hermes yes.

LJ looks a lot different than the last time I was active here. *I* look a lot different than the last time I was active here. I dug around in my Google Pics and found my old collection of LJ icons. It was like finding an old journal or a story you wrote twenty years ago or some outfit you wore in high school (though I never went to high school) and feeling that it wasn't you, but some totally different person who wrote those words, wore those clothes, had those feelings. I only managed to upload one that satisfied me, which I also use at Tumblr and on Google, so there's continuity.

Speaking of continuity, here's a sort of meme I used to post a lot on LJ that I still feel good about: I call it the Current Round-up.

Current Reading
--Walking with the Gods: Modern People Talk about Deities, Faith, and Recreating Ancient Traditions by W.D. Wilkerson
--The Aeneid, tr. by Allen Mandelbaum
--The Homeric Hymns, tr. by Michael Crudden
--a lot of fanfic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Current Viewing
--watched all three-plus seasons of MTV's Teen Wolf in the past month or so and got a lot of enjoyment out of it
--have recently rewatched Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers (I've been on kind of a Steve Rogers kick)
--What's Your Number?
--The Nanny Diaries
(okay, I'm on kind of a Chris Evans kick)

Current Listening
--a lot of Fleetwood Mac, songs from the '80s, anything but classical/Western art music.
